SAHAI is one of the few functional not-for-profit rehabilitation centres for persons with spinal cord injury in India. It is the life’s work of Dr Thomas Joseph, one of India’s best neurosurgeons, who has chosen to sacrifice a tremendous career for the sake of ttransforming the lives of persons with spinal cord injury in India.

Soulfree founder, Preethi Srinivasan was filled with gratitude to have the opportunity to visit the centre, learn from the functional model of the rehabilitation centre Dr Thomas has single-handedly created, and interact with the inmates living there at the moment.

“It gave me so much hope to meet Dr Thomas, the physiotherapists at Sahai, Mr Gajendran and Mr Palani, and here all the stories of people whose lives have been transformed by their experience at the Sahai Spinal Injuries Rehab Centre. Patients paying there need to pay almost for nothing, making Sahai perhaps the only not-for-profit spinal injury rehabilitation centre in the south of India. I’m inspired by my visit and I’m sure to work harder towards the fulfilment of Soulfree’s goals, for which Dr Thomas has promised his full support.”
