Soulfree founder, Preethi Srinivasan as an instrument of change in every way. Cricket was her first love and she had been kept away from the game for nearly 2 decades, but recently she got the opportunity to coach many young girls in Thiruvannamalai, who are passionate about cricket.

The interior districts of Tamil Nadu, despite being away from the city have a great pool of immense talent. However, due to lack of the conservative social structure, gender discrimination, lack of infrastructural support and formal training most girls are forced to quit playing the game despite their love.

When the girls requested Preethi to share her knowledge of the game, she readily agreed and Soulfree participated in Thiruvannamalai’s first-ever formal women’s cricket match, that was conducted by Sahara Cricket Club. For her inspiring contribution, the Soulfree founder was invited as the chief guest for the program.

Speaking passionately for better grassroots development and social change, Preethi said, “I believe that this is the best time to be a woman cricketer in India. With a women’s IPL in the offing, it is essential that grassroots development takes place. There is extraordinary talent available in the districts of Tamil Nadu, away from the city, where young girls dream to take up sport. However, lack of infrastructure, formal training and adverse social factors often force them to give up on their dreams.
