1. Who started Soulfree?
Soulfree was co-founded by Mrs. Vijayalakshmi and Ms. Preethi Srinivasan on August 13, 2013, in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, as a Public Charitable Trust.
2. Why was Soulfree started?
Soulfree was formed to prevent suicides among individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) by improving their quality of life, especially amongst the economically weaker sections of the society.
3. What was the trigger to start Soulfree?
At the young age of 18, Preethi Srinivasan became paralysed below the neck due to a freak accident. She completely lost her identity in few seconds! After a decade of hardship, with the help of grace of almighty and her parents, she had a spiritual awakening! She reached a state of equipoise which allows her to smile despite desperately challenging circumstances. The strong will to improve the quality of life of Persons with Spinal Cord Injury (PwSCI) was the trigger to start Soulfree. Further, Soulfree’s focus is on women and those from financially weaker segments of the society impacted by SCI.
4. What is Soulfree’s vision?
Soulfree’s vision: To ensure that persons facing a lifetime of paralysis after spinal cord injury can lead a life of dignity and purpose; and no one is forced to commit suicide because of a physical condition they have no control over.
5. What is Soulfree’s mission?
Soulfree’s mission: To improve the quality of life of Persons with Spinal Cord Injury (PwSCI) facing a lifetime of paralysis through the provision of a 360° support system inclusive of medical rehabilitation, education, employment, entrepreneurship, sports, and social reintegration, government assistance and long-term care facilities, thus providing a constant knowledge-base and support system for PwSCI and their families.  
6. What is INSPIRE?
In the context of Soulfree, INSPIRE is the acronym for INtegrated SPinal REhabilitation program. This innovative framework, conceived and implemented by Soulfree, focuses on providing holistic rehabilitation. It includes physiotherapy, psychotherapy, hydrotherapy, magnetotherapy, occupational therapy, vocational training, and other additional support for persons affected by spinal cord injury to eventually enable them to become Positively-abled.
7. What are the various forms of support provided by Soulfree?
Broadly, Soulfree provides support through Outreach programs and INtegrated SPinal REhabilitation program. Under the Outreach banner, Soulfree provides Wheelchair and Wheelchair Cushions, Shower and Commode Wheelchair, Hospital Cot, Mattress and Airbed, Tailoring Machine, Gift Box and Monthly Stipend to the affected individuals. The INtegrated SPinal REhabilitation program is housed at the INSPIRE Centre in Tiruvannamalai which offers individualized and holistic treatment programs for persons with spinal cord injury.
8. How many families has Soulfree supported?
Soulfree is supporting more than 3000 families from weaker economic strata with people struggling to survive every day as they face a lifetime of paralysis caused by Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
