MANIMARAN (SFMA2022TN0086)
Manimaran, a 25-year old Engineer, was an easy go lucky youngster with a passion for bikes and machines, until he met with an accident in 2022. He became completely dependent on his parents who were porters. At the time of admission at INSPIRE Centre, he needed support for all his activities, was in pain due to spasticity and tightness, and depressed about the future.
Now, he is able to work without calipers with just one crutch. He has increased his body strength phenomenally through sheer hard work and physiotherapy. His tightness and spasticity are nearly gone and he is completely independent. Above all Manimaran says “Soulfree not only made me walk but gave me awareness of right lifestyle (appreciates highly of food served).” He talks about the community support where he shares and expresses his ideas, feelings and the peer communication. He is ready to return to mainstream society and become an entrepreneur himself, by opening a vehicle repair and spare parts business.
DEEPAK ARULNATHAN K (SFMA2022TN0087)
Deepak was an engineer working in a major bank. His dreams for a bright future were shattered when a vehicular accident left him quadriplegic. Unable to use his fingers, he came to Soulfree in a despondent dilation. However, he worked exceptionally hard to regain his wrist function and hand strength. He’s now able to transfer himself and perform most of his day-to-day activities without support. He lost more than 10 kg overweight due to the highly-fibre, low-carb diet offered at the Centre.
As a quadriplegic, he is faced with taking care of his ageing parents, one of whom might require major cardiac surgery soon. Life may not be easy, but for this hard-working individual, it will surely be successful as he already has several job interviews lined up. Soulfree is committed to ensuring that he gets good employment and is able to financially sustain himself..
VAISHNAVI M (SFFE2023TN0070)
Vaishnavi, a seventeen year old youngster sustained a spinal cord injury after a fall from the terrace in 2022. From a chirpy youngster she became completely withdrawn and started having psychological issues.
She joined Soulfree reluctantly, but after three months at Soulfree she became a completely new person. She does all her daily activities by herself she now is walking with a walker. Nowadays, she is participating in all events and her self-confidence has drastically improved. Besides, Vaishnavi is now an Instagram influencer.
ARUN S (SFMA2023TN0068)
Arun who was an auto driver by profession met with an accident while driving in 2021, which left him paralysed below the hip. Lack of awareness about spinal cord injury he confined himself to bed. He became aware of Soulfree through YouTube, deeply inspired by the words of Soulfree’s founder.
After receiving rehab for three months at Soulfree INSPIRE centre, he is able to transfer himself independently from a wheelchair to a bed and vice versa. He has also learnt to transfer himself to an auto and a car from his wheelchair. Now he is able to walk with the support of a walking stick.
RAMDOSS M (SFMA2023TN0067)
After a fall from the terrace, Ramdoss sustained a spinal cord injury. He came to INSPIRE Centre with grade four bedsore which is life threating.
With Soulfree’s holistic rehabilitation that included Ayurveda treatment amongst others, he began to heal from within and without. It is truly remarkable that he is now able to walk with a walker and all his bedsores have completely disappeared. It is a testament to his hard work, sincerity, and also the dedication and commitment of our therapists.
UMAPATHI N (SFMA2023TN0077)
A fall from the construction site left Umapathi paralysed below the hip. He arrived at INSPIRE Centre with terrible bedsores having been bedridden since the accident. His whole family was in agony and struggling for survival.
After rehabilitation at Soulfree INSPIRE centre, the bedsores have almost healed. He has learnt all transfer techniques and is able to independently do his daily activities. With a focus on his upper body strengthening he is able to walk with the help of calipers. Now, he can get transferred into an auto rickshaw and drive it on his own. He has learnt basic tailoring, computer and mobile repair techniques at the Centre.
RAJI N (SFMA2023TN0076)
Raji sustained a spinal cord injury after meeting with a bike accident. For almost three years he was in coma. After reviving from coma, he was confined to the bed with hardly any movement.
When he came to Soulfree, he was largely bedridden and depressed. However, he has benefited greatly from the rehabilitation to the extent that he has become quite sharp from a mental and psychological standpoint and is now completely independent in his day-to-day functioning.
Additionally, he has learnt various vocational courses like Soap making, Incense sticks making and Tailoring and is confident in gaining financial independence.
THANGARAJ D (SFMA2023TN0075)
Thangaraj climbed a palmyra tree to pluck some ice apple. Unfortunately, something terrible happened instead. He slipped and fell and that left him paralyzed below his hip.
After joining Soulfree INSPIRE centre he learnt to become independent, he is able to transfer himself to the wheelchair and to the bed. He is able to take a shower too. On his own, today he is able to walk with a double stick.
VENKATESH B (SFMA2023TN0074)
Venkatesh became dependent on his elderly parents who are daily wage workers after he sustained a spinal cord injury. He was completely shaken by the rude reality.
When thought about how can he be this way he came across the Soulfree INSPIRE centre. After three months of rehabilitation he not only does all his daily activities on his own, but he is also completely a new person and wants to take care of his old parents. Today he is able to walk with the help of a stick brimming with positivity.
KALIDASS P (SFMA2023TN0072)
Kalidas is a highly motivated and energetic youngster. His stay at Soulfree INSPIRE centre has further boosted his confidence. He has set an example to other residents how to become completely independent in doing daily activities and carry on with life with a smile.
He gives Soulfree physiotherapy and occupational sessions all the credit for all his success, since they helped him focus on his upper body strengthening. He is also appreciative of the quality of food which Soulfree has specially designed for its residents. Today he walks with help of a walker spreading optimism.
