    • WHEEL OF FORTUNE – During the recently concluded REX Karmaveer chakra awards ceremony held in New Delhi, I had the opportunity to briefly interact with Nipun Malhotra, who rode in stylishly in a motorised Otto Bock wheelchair. I was interested in finding out more about his wheelchair and introduced myself to him.
Just a few minutes back I received an e-mail from him stating that he has written an article in the Hindu newspaper that was inspired by our conversation. It definitely came as a surprise, but I can now say that the both of us have a couple of important things in common: 1. We are eternal optimists who believe, “it’s not about what you cannot do, it’s about what you choose to do with what you can do.” And 2. We never give up.
I wish to thank Nipun Malhotra for reaching out to me and hope that this will become the beginning of a long and symbiotic friendship.

    • #Happy #InternationalWomensDay Please take the time to read, #share and if at all possible, take a moment to empathise with all the women living with disability in the world, who are forced to face incredible stigma, rejection and condemnation from us. Every day, they are told that they do not deserve to live, that they are shame and a burden on the family and many are even encouraged to commit suicide. This is not emotional hype this is fact.It is not my wish to seek sympathy. It is my wish to bring to light the struggle of an invisible segment of society. Just because there are physical limitations, it does not mean that a human being does not have value. We all need to work together for fundamental change!http://www.patientsengage.com/news-and-views/spinal-cord-injury-complete-helplessness-dependence-has-taught-me-empathetic
